Self Employment is what I value for online teaching. You create the online teaching program you want. There are companies on the web that provide software infrastructure required to deliver online teaching in various forms. Most of these are free or available at lost cost.
The other benefit about online teaching is you do not have to invest into building software infrastructures or hiring a team to manage things. You can be a one person show and you earn direct incomes from the work you do. You can start at your own pace. And you can apply all the skill you learned teaching towards your new business.
You can also select what media you want to use to teach the online information: wmail, teleseminars, recordings, and video.
There is no regular paycheck here but your income has no limits. Many teachers, professionals and entrepreneurs start teaching online on a part time basis.
If you are a teacher you already have many of the skills it takes to take your teaching skills on line. If you are an entrepreneur you have learned the skills it takes to run a business so that you can help others.
