Not only does disorganization take up time but also can be a cause of missed appointments, forgotten assignments and upset business associates. If you want to be successful, you must have a clear, workable system for every activity you engage in.
#2 – Distractions: Working at home can be amazing but also very distracting. Unlike a traditional office setting you will often have a spouse, children, pets, and other things vying for your time at all hours of the day. It’s also very easy to take extra breaks when you should remain on task.
#3 – Unrealistic Goals: This one always gets the excited beginners when they start their first Internet business. Instead of making small manageable goals they set unrealistic goals and attempt to achieve them in an unrealistic period of time. The end result is a complete disaster.
#4 – Negative Attitude: Your attitude has more power than you might think and will control the outcome of many aspects of your life. If you are constantly thinking negatively about your home business or how easily it would be for you to fail you will end up perpetuating that exact result. #5 – Lack of Planning: If you fail to plan than you can plan to fail. Without a clear road map of daily, weekly, and monthly tasks you will find it easy to get off task or avoid them all-together. Plan your next days work before you go to bed and your weekly work on a Sunday before you start the bulk of your work week.
#6 – Doing the “Wrong” Work: There are many people who start a home business and work very hard. Unfortunately they spend the bulk of their time doing work that will have no effect on their business and don’t leave time for the work that will. This is known as busy work and it will not only waste your time but waste your business too.
#7 – Associating with Negativity: It never fails that when someone starts to improve some aspect of their life others around them will react negatively. People react negatively because of jealousy and fear that if you succeed you would then be better than them. Rather than try to improve themselves it’s easier just to make sure that you don’t improve. This is otherwise known as the “crabs in a bucket” theory.
If you put a live crab in a bucket, you must put a lid on the bucket because the crab can climb out, but, if you put two crabs in the bucket, there is no need to put a lid on it because neither crab will allow the other one to escape. They will latch onto each other and keep pulling each other back down into the bucket.
